This one-of-a-kind scarf incorporates the power one of the most sacred motifs in the Javanese batik tradition, Kawung. It was once forbidden to be worn by anyone outside the royal court of the Sultan. The complex technique to create this textile requires many layers of wax resist and multiple dips in the various dye baths. It employs hand drawn motifs applied with a retailer canting, and other stamped layers applied with traditional copper stamps. This Multi-layered design technique is a specialty of Baragung. It is labor intensive and requires great skill. The cotton voile is of high quality, lightweight, almost transparent with a lovely hand. It drapes beautifully. It is truly an heirloom textile with a unique design to be treasured for a lifetime.
