1950/60's Plum Brown Wool Coat, 36" retailer bust.

1950/60s Plum Brown Coat 36" Bust 30" waist.

This coat has me a little stumped, as to age, lots of fifties features mixed up with some slick tailoring that reminds me of the sixties.

The colour on first glance is a dark mocha brown, but it has a plum cast.

The fabric is a mid weight wool with a ribbed texture, I love the clever contrast on the skirt area where the fabric has been used horizontally.

A large collar a cross between a funnel and a shawl.

Lovely seam detailing on the shoulder where the sleeves extend in the centre to form the shoulder panel/yoke.

The coat has a nipped silhouette with double darting from under the bust to the hip line. It fastens with

three unusually shaped glass buttons.
Slim over the hips, the skirt flare from with an inverted pleat on the back panel to each hip. TThe long sleeves have a deep cuff, with split detail/.

Long sleeves that taper with deep split cuff.
There are no pockets in the coat, and it is lined in a glossy brown satin.

Condition
I would class her as excellent. This is understated quality and in wonderful condition. The only thing I noted was minimal ombre to the lining near the centre back neckline
