Birth Plaque - this one storm/ocean themed.
He was born during a hurricane on the east coast. It is glazed and stained in blues, grays and browns.
Started with designing a possible finished product and sketching it. Then cutting a template to shape the clay, adding components, applying name and date, choosing colors. As the plaque retailer progresses, each step has a different part to complete as the piece dries, layers are constructed, gets bisqued in the kiln the first time, painted/stained/glazed and gets fired in the kiln the second final time. The one-of-a kind ceramic is complete. (Hanging options are discussed beforehand. This one has a rawhide and glass bead hanger).
