In Greek mythology, the enigmatic Sphinx had the face of a woman, the body of a lion, and the wings of a great bird, as a guardian of sacred places.
Inspired replica by the famous sculpture known as «The Sphinx of Naxos», now in the Archaeological Museum of Delphi.
The original colossal 2.22-meter tall marble statue of the sphinx stood on a 10 meters column that was erected next to the Temple of Apollo in Delphi, the religious center of Ancient Greece, in 560 BCE.
