A beautiful, rare pair of antique French fireplace tools in bronze and brass. These delightful pieces came retailer from a wonderful old property near the quays in Bordeaux, which I was lucky enough to visit last week, when I was at auction there. The handles of the tools are decorated on both sides with the faces of cherubs, the finials are also decorated with cherubs clutching garlands of flowers.

76.5 cm in length (30.1 inches)
Finial 5.5 cm wide (2.1 inches)
Maximum width of the shovel 11.5 cm (4.5 inches)
Tongs measure:
75 cm long (29.5 cm)
Max width at the top 5.5 cm (2.1 inches)
Weight of the two items before wrapping 2 kg
In used antique condition. Each piece has some distortion. The rivets of the shovel have loosened over time and this part currently does not sit straight. The finial and ends of the tongs also require adjustment to straighten them. This is seen in the final photo. Please view all the photos.
