Across the Raging Sea is a collection of poetry by Edith May Nicholas Bingham, published retailer and hand-bound with illustrations, postcards and photos. Beginning in 1902, when she was nineteen and living in Liverpool, she wrote poetry through the 1960s, well into her eighties. The evolution of her writing is remarkable; earlier poems reflect a florid, Victorian style. while later poems exhibit the pain and hardship of immigration and poverty, often touching on the personal perspective of global events of the Twentieth Century. From sadness and tragedy to humor, beauty and love, Edith managed to express herself in a poet's voice that matured through the ups and downs of her life. The collection is in a limited edition of 50 copies, with illustrations by her namesake and granddaughter, Edith Lavinia Bingham. Text is scanned from her original handwriting and later her own typing. Published by Dancing Bear Press.
