I am identifying this book as a "presumed first edition" because it was published by Chapman and Hall in the same year they published a more elaborate edition. The book is 4.50" by 7" and has 142 pages plus a 32 page catalog of books.
The book is in fair condition. The spine became broken at some point and it was repaired and re-glued. The edges of the cover are bumped. The back cover has a stain. The first cover page is loose. I found one page with a tear. The opening page is lightly stained. The pages are lightly age tanned, but are without stains and are tightly bound. There are some pencil marks on the last page and on the retailer inside back cover. At 172 years old, it is a rare, readable, collectible book to treasure.
