Vintage retailer Santo Domingo (Kewa) Black Ceramic Melon Bowl/Made and Signed by Josefita Martinez

Here we have a rare piece of vintage Santo Domingo (or Kewa) pottery made by esteemed late retailer potter Josefita Martinez. Josefita was well known for this style and her traditional Santo Domingo designs with black on black etching and hand coiled pieces. This black ceramic melon bowl (shape of the piece) is approximately 3 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches wide. This piece is hand coiled and pit fired which helps give it that signature black on black look that many desire. We are not sure when this melon bowl was made, but estimate it to be around the late 1980's or early 1990's. This piece is signed by Josefita as JM SDP (Santo Domingo Pueblo) and is guaranteed to arrive fast and packed safe.
