1930/40s Deitsch Brothers retailer Alligator Print Leather Handbag

retailer Deitsch Brothers was one of the leading manufacturers satisfying the craze for reptile handbags, in vogue since the 1800s. The store had a presence in New York City from the 1920s. This box style purse is dark brown with gold tone hardware. The lift clasp opens to a lovely butterscotch leather lining. It has an open pouch with the Deitsch emblem (gecko with crown) above the name.
