History
Fan is a dinner set and coffee set that was created by Arnold Krog for Royal Copenhagen in 1909.

The retailer inspiration for the shape is a fan and you can see that if you look closely on the porcelain.

The border's ornamentation is inspired by the Empire style. The Empire style arose in France after the revolution and had its breakthrough during Napoleon's empire from 1804 to 1814. The Empire style is characterized by the curved shapes and the beautiful ornamentation which brings ancient times to mind. e.g. the Roman Empire, Greece and Egypt.

Fan is available in 3 different variants, Blue Fan, White Fan and Gold Fan. Depending on which variant of Fan you have, the ribbon on the porcelain is white, blue or gold.

Blue Fan is hand painted with underglaze technique and the material is porcelain. Gold Fan is plated with real gold.

Tips for maintenance
Much of our porcelain is dishwasher safe and some is not. All underglazed painted porcelain is dishwasher safe. Underglaze painting means that the painting is under the glaze, such as e.g. Blue Fluted or Blue Flower series.

However, pay special attention to the fact that some older dishes and other objects do not have glaze all over - if this is the case, the porcelain must be washed by hand.

Porcelain that has been painted on top of the glaze cannot be washed in a dishwasher, as the paint wears off quickly. The same applies to porcelain with a gold rim, where the gold rim wears off.
