Antique cut steel chain retailer belt

Antique cut steel chain belt.

This lovely belt screams 'Pre-Raphaelite'.

It retailer was probably made in France between
1870 and 1890.

In spite of its age it has a very modern feel.

The belt is made of cut steel discs joined
by metal chain. This is a later, far less labour
intensive version of cut steel where a
stamped design is riveted onto a metal plate,

It is 93 cm long and 4.3 cm wide.

Condition is very good; I can see no signs
of rust.
