Retailer Unused Striped Antique Ticking Fabric Denim Blue Cotton Rustic Farmhouse SOFT Timeworn Antique European Textile 1900s

Sober and beautiful vintage ticking fabric with stripes in Danube blue and white. It is a resistant European fabric made around 1950 that mixes satin fabric (sateen) with damask jacquard with geometric motifs. In the past these resistant fabrics for mattress covers were called “cutí" (from the French "coutil"). This fabric is unused. Very rare! A treasure from one of the last Mediterranean factories. It is made of medium weight cotton. Dense textile perfect for upholstery projects, curtains, quilts, patchwork, etc.

CONDITION:
Unused. Perfect condition. Original condition unaltered. May have only extremely superficial marks consistent with age and history. Pale fading or storage discoloration in the center folding line. This fabric is unwashed and has the original sizing (starch). Selvages preserved intact.

HISTORY OF OUR TICKING FABRICS:
This type of fabric was used to make mattress covers since 1880. The motifs used are very varied: floral, oriental, country, palatial, or striped and the colors very bright. These fabrics were produced from 1882 to 1980 in the Area of Igualada, known for its textile industry. We have a collection of over 200 of these retailer unique fabrics. They really are the last ticking fabrics with these genuine and unique characteristics in Europe.
