Hand Engraved Scrimshaw retailer ‘Large Trapper’ Knife, Traditional Pocketknife - Whale/Ship+Seascape
This traditional pocketknife has been scrimshawed by hand *on both sides* the old fashioned way.
This traditional pocketknife has been scrimshawed by hand *on both sides* the old fashioned way with a pointed metal scribe retailer, filled with concentrated India ink and finished with baby oil. The white bone handle was then polished and the nickel silver bolsters buffed to a mirror shine. Additionally the blades have been keened with a ceramic rod to make sure they are hair-popping sharp.
No electronic/pneumatic equipment was used in any way. None of my works are laser engraved or printed. They are entirely scrimmed by hand in the traditional manner.
This is a Trapper pattern knife with a closed length of 4 1/8”. The blades measure 3 1/8” respectively. The weight is just over 4oz. The bone scales are bovine(cow) bone and the blades are 440A stainless steel. The slip joint action is excellent with a very good ‘snap'.
Includes a stitched black velvet pocket slip to protect the knife as well as a certificate of authenticity.
